This policy covers Kokoro Reader, its browser extension, account service, and website at kokororeader.com.

What we process

We store your Google account identifier, name, verified email address, trial start date, subscription and checkout identifiers, session records, and daily AI request and token counters. Google handles sign-in. Whop processes payments through embedded checkout. We do not receive your password or full payment-card details.

Local speech processes webpage or selected text on your device. Voice models download from Hugging Face. Listening does not send the text to our server. Your browser stores preferences and downloaded models.

When you request AI explanations, follow-ups, or quizzes with included AI, the relevant source text, prompt, recent conversation, and earlier quiz questions pass through our Cloudflare server to OpenRouter and the model provider. We do not intentionally store these prompts or generated replies in our database or application logs. Providers may process or retain them under their own policies. Do not submit material you do not have permission to share.

If you supply your own OpenRouter key, AI requests go directly from the extension to OpenRouter. That key stays in extension memory unless you choose to remember it in local extension storage. It is not sent to our backend or the webpage. You can remove it in Settings.

Why we use it

We use account and subscription records to provide access, restore it after reinstalling, enforce one trial per account, handle cancellation, and prevent abuse. AI usage counters enforce the displayed daily limits. Necessary session cookies and extension tokens keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, sell personal data, or use browsing content for advertising.

Cloudflare processes technical request information such as IP addresses and security logs to operate and protect the service. Our rate limits store a hash derived from an IP address. We do not collect your complete browsing history.

Service providers

Our service uses Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Whop for identity and billing, and OpenRouter and its selected model provider for AI processing. Hugging Face serves model downloads. Providers can process data in countries outside your own.

Retention and your choices

Account and billing-access records remain while needed to deliver the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and prevent repeated free trials. Sessions expire after 30 days. Trial history is associated with your account, so uninstalling does not erase it. You can request access, correction, export, or deletion by contacting us. We may retain limited records where legally required or necessary to prevent fraud, and will explain any such retention.

Uninstalling removes extension access but does not cancel a subscription. Cancel through your Kokoro account. Removing browser storage deletes local preferences and remembered keys. Where applicable, you may object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data protection authority. We verify requests before releasing or deleting account information.

Security and age

We use HTTPS, server-side access checks, hashed session tokens, and server-only provider credentials. No service can promise absolute security. Kokoro is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.

We will update this page when our practices change and provide appropriate notice of material changes.
